Procurement Category Manager - Mills

About the role

A full-time Procurement Category Manager for the Mills category is needed in Harare, Zimbabwe. The role owns, develops and maintains the category strategy and procurement standard operating procedures, oversees the central category strategy and leads a team of Buyers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse historical spend, technical requirements, market analysis, suppliers, sourcing strategies, risks, savings opportunities and timelines, then execute sourcing events to award contracts
• Negotiate with suppliers and regularly meet end users to address their business requirements
• Manage spend, identify savings, anticipate sourcing barriers and implement a supply risk management strategy
• Ensure all purchasing complies with the category strategy and delegation of authority, and oversee its execution
• Work with the Contract Manager on supplier contracts, set the supplier strategy including localisation, and manage supplier relationships as key contact for centralised category suppliers
• Lead, mentor and guide Buyers, drive a culture of governance and compliance, and submit weekly, monthly reports and annual audits

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in commerce, supply chain, procurement, logistics or equivalent
• CIPS membership
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience
• Strong influencing, advanced negotiating and legal contracting skills
• Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision, with problem-solving capability

• Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint, for data analysis, management reporting and presentations
