Road Haulage Tracking & Dispatch Controller

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator part of the MSC Group, is hiring Road Haulage Tracking & Dispatch Controllers in Harare, Zimbabwe. This is a temporary contract position focused on monitoring, tracking and controlling the movement of company vehicles, cargo and drivers in real time, ensuring timely deliveries, route compliance, cargo security and effective transport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and track all company vehicles and cargo movements using GPS tracking systems and transport management platforms.
• Dispatch vehicles, drivers and equipment according to operational needs, customer requests and delivery schedules, and allocate trips with routing instructions to drivers.
• Proactively monitor trip progress and coordinate daily fleet movements, driver schedules and load assignments to maximise fleet utilisation.
• Investigate route deviations, unauthorised stops, speeding, geofence breaches and delays, and escalate vehicle breakdowns, accidents, security incidents and other emergencies.
• Arrange roadside assistance, recovery services and maintenance support, and work with workshop and maintenance teams to keep the fleet ready.
• Monitor loading and offloading, ensure dispatch instructions are followed, and give customers and management regular updates on shipment status and estimated arrival times.
• Maintain accurate records of trips, deliveries, driver activity, vehicle movements and incidents, and generate daily, weekly and monthly fleet performance, tracking and dispatch reports.
• Support cargo security, liaise with operations, customer service, warehouse, workshop and security teams, and assist with route planning, backload identification and trip optimisation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Transport & Logistics.
• At least 5 years of experience in transport operations, fleet management, vehicle tracking or logistics coordination.

Required skills

• Familiarity with GPS fleet tracking systems and transport management software.
