Chef/Cook – Catering Services at Midlands State University

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking a motivated Chef/Cook to join its Student Affairs Division Catering Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high‑quality meals, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting smooth service operations for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, wash vegetables, season meat and set up ovens, grills and utensils for each shift.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain clean workstations.
• Handle multiple orders simultaneously while managing proper storage of food and detergents.
• Control stock levels, minimise wastage, and coordinate stock movement during and after service.
• Check freshness of food, taste prepared dishes before service, and manage asset and inventory records.
• Complete requisitions for food and non‑food items and follow handover procedures.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
