Head Waiter

About the role

The Head Waiter leads the front‑of‑house team in a busy restaurant, ensuring every guest receives attentive, efficient, and courteous service. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Harare and requires close collaboration with kitchen and bar staff to deliver a seamless dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the dining area and coordinate table service for optimal guest satisfaction.
• Supervise, train, and assign sections to wait staff, maintaining high service standards.
• Collaborate with kitchen and bar teams to manage orders, resolve service issues, and ensure smooth communication.
• Handle reservations, monitor cleanliness and presentation of the dining area, and support inventory checks.
• Promote a positive guest experience that encourages repeat patronage.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with a focus on guest satisfaction.
• Knowledge of food and beverage offerings and basic cooking methods.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with guests, staff, and kitchen personnel.
• Previous experience in a supervisory front‑of‑house role such as Head Waiter or Senior Waiter.
• Ability to lead, mentor a diverse team, manage shifts, and handle service challenges calmly.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or restaurant management training is an advantage.

Required skills

• Familiarity with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
• Basic cash‑handling procedures.
