Waiter/Waitress – Catering Service (2 positions)

About the role

The Catering Service Department of Midlands State University is seeking two enthusiastic waiters/waitresses to join its dining‑hall team. You will serve students, staff and guests, ensuring a pleasant and efficient dining experience in a university environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous, prompt service to all customers, presenting menus and answering food‑related queries.
• Ensure hot dishes remain hot and cold dishes stay cold, maintaining food quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized service area and adhere to health and hygiene policies.
• Follow hand‑over and hand‑over procedures, securing all entry points at the end of the shift.
• Assist with any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum of five ordinary‑level passes.
• Class 2 certification in restaurant services.
• At least one year of proven experience in a catering or food‑service setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills, team‑oriented, and able to handle criticism constructively.
• Presentable, trustworthy, energetic, time‑conscious and self‑motivated.
• Good communication abilities and patience when dealing with diverse customers.
