Senior Road Safety Campaigns / Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role
NTU International is seeking a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural change campaigns across the ECOWAS region. The role focuses on protecting vulnerable road users through inclusive policies, targeted communication, and capacity‑building activities.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement road safety awareness and behavioural change campaigns.
- Provide technical assistance on communication strategies, public outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
- Integrate vulnerable‑user considerations into transport policies and road safety programmes.
- Advise on gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches for women, youth, persons with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists, and other groups.
- Develop communication materials, awareness tools, and public information campaigns.
- Contribute to road safety studies, analytical reports, and policy recommendations.
- Coordinate with transport authorities, NGOs, educational institutions, media, and development partners.
- Deliver workshops, consultations, and capacity‑building activities.
- Support monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of outreach activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in road safety campaigns, public awareness programmes, or social inclusion projects.
- Proven experience in transport or road safety projects in developing countries, preferably Sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
- At least 7 years of experience specifically in road safety campaigns or behavioural‑change communication.
