Senior Accountant – Harare

About the role

The Finance and Records Department in Harare is seeking a Senior Accountant to support mission leaders in maintaining policy compliance, accurate financial statements, and budgetary control while minimizing defalcation risk.

Key responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex accounting functions across various church settings.
• Initiate and maintain general ledger and sub‑ledger files for accurate financial presentations.
• Reconcile accounts, review reconciliations, and clear outstanding items.
• Prepare journal entries, adjustments, and special studies or reports as required.
• Analyze budget requests, explain variances, and consolidate accounting information for statements.
• Review expenditures against budgets, investigate discrepancies, and process correcting entries.
• Monitor high‑value invoices, ensure policy compliance, and correspond on project account status.
• Assist with tax payments, government filings, bank balance monitoring, and cash forecasting.
• Maintain physical and digital records in accordance with statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Current valid temple recommend.
• 8 years of related experience or progress toward a relevant degree/certification.
• Minimum 2 years of professional accounting experience using ERP platforms.
• Graduate degree in accounting, finance, MBA, CPA or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
• Proficiency with personal computers in a network environment.

• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) accounting systems.
• Microsoft Office suite, including Excel.
• Automated accounting and reporting tools.
