Accounts Payables Officer

About the role

A full-time Accounts Payables Officer is required in Harare, Zimbabwe. The role covers invoice processing and verification, supplier payments, creditor reconciliations, supplier relationship management, controls and compliance, and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, register and verify supplier invoices and supporting documents, matching them against purchase orders, goods received vouchers and approved delivery documentation
• Confirm accuracy, authorisation, pricing and applicable taxes, follow up on incomplete or disputed invoices and capture approved invoices in the accounting system
• Prepare payment schedules, verify banking details, prioritise electronic payments and submit payment batches for approval
• Allocate payments correctly, issue remittance advice and reconcile supplier statements to the ledger each month, resolving discrepancies and outstanding items
• Maintain good supplier relationships, monitor due dates, support early-payment discounts and escalate overdue accounts and disputes
• Keep complete accounts payable records, comply with authority limits and payment controls, and support internal and external audits
• Protect confidential financial information, report suspected fraud, support month-end and year-end close, prepare ageing reports and help automate invoice processing and payments

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline; studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification is an advantage
• At least two years' experience in accounts payable, creditors administration or a similar finance role

Required skills

• Experience using accounting or ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Working knowledge of creditor reconciliations, invoice processing, taxation and payment controls
