Internal Auditor - Harare

About the role

A full-time Internal Auditor position in Harare, Zimbabwe, focused on conducting scheduled and surprise internal audits across branches, departments and operational functions. The role reviews compliance with company policies, procedures, internal controls and statutory requirements, and prepares clear audit reports.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct stock, cash and operational audits, identify variances, weaknesses and control deficiencies.
• Investigate stock losses, cash variances, suspected irregularities and other control exceptions, and prepare reports.
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial, stock and operational records.
• Review branch procedures covering stock receiving, storage, transfers, sales, cash handling, banking and reconciliation.
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Escalate significant control weaknesses, suspected fraud, negligence and other irregularities to management.
• Perform other duties reasonably assigned by management.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant auditing experience, preferably in retail, supermarket, FMCG or distribution.
• Professional qualifications such as CIA, ACCA, CIMA, CA(2) or CGMA, and membership of a recognised professional body, are an added advantage.
