Business Analyst - Data & Claims Analytics

About the role

A full-time Business Analyst position in Harare, Zimbabwe, focused on data management, claims and membership analytics, fraud detection and business intelligence. The role turns raw data into actionable insights for management.

Key responsibilities

• Data management: collect, clean, validate, integrate and maintain claims, membership, contributions, provider and financial datasets.
• Analyze claims frequency, severity, utilization, diagnoses, procedures, high-cost procedures, membership growth, churn, demographics and age profiles.
• Develop rules and models to detect unusual provider, member and claims patterns for investigation.
• Identify opportunities to automate reporting, data analysis, anomaly detection and routine management information.
• Build predictive models for claims costs, member churn and other key business outcomes.
• Identify inefficiencies in claims, membership, authorizations and provider management and recommend improvements.
• Convert raw data into actionable insights and recommendations for management.
• Produce timely and accurate data for regulatory, actuarial, audit and management reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics or a similar qualification from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in business or data analysis, preferably in a medical aid or insurance setting.
• Risk Management-related professional certification is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
• Experience with statistical tools such as R/Python, SPSS, predictive analytics, forecasting and AI/ML.
• Strong understanding of databases and data management, including advanced Excel and SQL.
