Graduate Trainee Accountant

About the role

A finance department in Harare, Zimbabwe is looking for a graduate trainee accountant. The role covers the preparation and processing of accounting records and financial transactions, with support on accounts payable and receivable, bank and cash reconciliations and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process accounting records and financial transactions, capturing and maintaining accurate financial data
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable, and with bank and cash reconciliations
• Help prepare invoices, receipts and payment documentation
• Support payroll-related accounting processes where required
• Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records
• Assist with financial reports and schedules, and support internal and external audits
• Help with statutory and financial compliance requirements
• Perform other accounting duties assigned by the Finance Department

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field from a recognised institution
• Recent graduate with 0-2 years of relevant experience
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work well in a team
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism

• Good computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
