Boat Chef (Onboard Culinary Specialist)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Boat Chef to plan, prepare, and serve high‑quality meals for guests and crew aboard Chiyedza House Boat. The role combines culinary creativity with the ability to work efficiently in a compact, moving galley environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design daily and weekly menus that respect guest preferences, dietary restrictions, and onboard logistics.
• Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, ensuring consistent presentation and taste.
• Maintain strict food safety standards, including temperature control, proper storage, and cross‑contamination prevention.
• Keep the galley clean, organized, and sanitary through regular deep‑clean routines.
• Coordinate meal times and workflow with the captain, lead crew, and other staff.
• Perform basic maintenance and report any equipment issues promptly.
• Assist with general crew duties when required, without compromising primary cooking responsibilities.

Required profile

• Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Culinary Arts (or similar qualification).
• Class 1 Chef certificate or comparable culinary certification is an advantage.
• Proven experience in commercial, catering, restaurant, or hospitality kitchens.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a small, mobile kitchen and handle sea motion.
• Strong organizational skills and the capacity to meet tight time constraints.
