Sr. Estimator II

About the role

The Sr. Estimator II is responsible for producing accurate, timely proposals and cost estimates for large‑scale private and public infrastructure projects exceeding $100 million. The role supports Granite’s competitive bidding strategy while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a safety program that meets or exceeds Granite’s incident goals.
• Implement environmental policies and mitigate adverse impacts of operations.
• Foster a quality‑focused culture across all project phases.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, and location factors to produce high‑quality estimates.
• Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions; incorporate field input.
• Evaluate alternative construction methods to improve bid competitiveness.
• Verify take‑off quantities for accuracy.
• Use historical cost data to validate estimates.
• Apply advanced mathematical calculations to ensure precise cost modeling.
• Present estimates and participate in senior‑level bid reviews.
• Communicate with owners, subcontractors, and public entities to ensure competitive positioning.
• Share bid information with field teams during pre‑construction meetings.
• Build and maintain regional business relationships to generate new opportunities.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop estimating staff.
• Lead design‑build pre‑construction services and means‑and‑method discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in cost estimating for large infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to lead and develop estimating teams.
