About the role

The Department of Chemical Sciences at Midlands State University is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to support teaching and research activities. This role involves hands‑on work in the chemistry laboratory, ensuring smooth operation of practical sessions and maintaining a safe, well‑stocked environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and execution of laboratory practicals.
• Operate and maintain analytical instruments used in chemical analysis.
• Support laboratory safety procedures and quality control measures.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure timely replenishment of consumables.
• Perform routine laboratory housekeeping and ensure a tidy work area.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Technology or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of five ‘O’ level passes, including Mathematics, English and a Science subject.
• At least one (1) year of relevant post‑qualification work experience.
