Finance Analyst – Southern Africa Office

About the role

CIMMYT is seeking a Finance Analyst to join its Southern Africa Office in Harare. The role supports the Country Finance Manager in maintaining a strong control environment and ensuring the financial sustainability of the office and field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, cash and bank management, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Post financial transactions accurately in the accounting system and verify supporting documentation.
• Lead cash‑flow forecasting for the country office and field sites, monitor cash balances and prepare bank reconciliation statements.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PAYE, NSSA, and VAT.
• Support preparation of annual budgets and donor proposal budgets, update forecasts and provide financial analysis.
• Review expenditure eligibility, allocate costs to grants and cost centres, and ensure donor compliance (USAID, EU, FCDO, UN agencies).
• Assist with internal and external audits and maintain audit trail documentation.
• Implement and strengthen internal control systems and risk‑management processes.

Required profile

• Zimbabwean national with an excellent academic record.
• Highly motivated and detail‑oriented professional.
• Ability to work collaboratively with finance and program staff.
