Depot Accountant

About the role

The Depot Accountant is responsible for safeguarding stock levels across remote depots that are not linked to the central information system. You will ensure real‑time inventory updates, support safety initiatives, and provide accurate material balance reporting for petroleum products.

Key responsibilities

• Report depot events to HSEQ, participate in investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct monthly "Safe to Load" spot checks and regular HSE inspections.
• Monitor daily status of remote warehouses and update SAP with goods receipts, issues, density, temperature, and transfer data.
• Reconcile open petroleum product orders, fuel temperature and density records, and ensure consistency in SAP.
• Prepare and consolidate monthly material balance reports, global stock reconciliations, and loss & gain analyses.
• Execute specific SAP transactions (e.g., ZC012, MB1C, ZC52/ZC53) to correct blending errors and transport losses.
• Manage the secretariat for the Material Balance or Logistics Oil Loss committee and track action plans.
• Analyse cancelled invoices, deliveries, and slow or dead stock (>24 months) and produce variance reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience in material balance or depot accounting, preferably within the petroleum sector.
• Strong familiarity with SAP (MM module) and related transaction codes.
• Ability to work independently with remote depots and handle high‑volume data entry.

Required skills

• SAP (MM) – goods receipt, issue, inventory posting, custom transaction codes.
• Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Inventory reconciliation and variance analysis.
• Knowledge of petroleum product density, temperature measurement, and blending processes.
