Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Professor – Geography & Environmental Sustainability

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking a qualified academic to join the Department of Geography, Environmental Sustainability and Resilience Building. The position can be filled at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor level, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver postgraduate lectures in modules such as Environmental Epidemiology, Safety, Health and Environmental Laws, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Social Governance and Food Safety Management.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university activities, including meetings, workshops, conferences and community engagement.
• Conduct active research in the relevant fields and contribute to publications and knowledge transfer.
• Lead innovation projects that result in tangible products or services and support commercialisation efforts.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.

Required profile

• BSc Honours (2:1 or higher) in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Geography or related discipline.
• MSc (Merit) in a related field.
• Relevant PhD/DPhil.
• At least one year of industrial experience in occupational health, safety or environmental management, or three years of university teaching experience in the same area.
• Professional certifications in environment, safety, health or sustainability are an advantage.
