Grants Officer – Research Funding Management

About the role

The Grants Officer will manage external research funding, support academic staff in securing grants and consultancy contracts, and ensure compliance with donor and institutional policies. This role works closely with monitoring, evaluation, and finance teams to track project progress and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage external funding sources and oversee the full grant lifecycle.
• Advise researchers on grant and consultancy policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Identify research and innovation funding opportunities.
• Assist academic staff in preparing proposals, contracts, budgets, and related documentation.
• Lead workshops on grant writing, development, compliance, and support.
• Coordinate sub‑awards and post‑award processing.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation officers to track funded project progress.
• Work with the Bursar Division to monitor grant funds, assess procurement requests, and prepare financial reports.
• Ensure adherence to funder and institutional policies, and close grants according to donor requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Research Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• At least one year of experience in research grants and consultancy management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
