About the role

Midlands State University is seeking a qualified academic to join the Faculty of Business Sciences, Department of Information and Marketing Sciences. The appointment will be at the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor, depending on the candidate’s experience and research record.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and tutorials in Data Science, Information Systems and related modules at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and assess work‑related learning.
• Engage in active research that contributes to the university’s scholarly output and benefits students.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university service activities, including meetings, workshops, conferences and community engagement.

Required profile

• First degree (minimum 2:1) in Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field.
• Master’s degree in the same discipline; a PhD is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated teaching experience and the ability to cover at least three of the listed modules.
• Evidence of research activity and professional standing appropriate to the appointed academic level.
