Political Science & International Relations Lecturer (Academic Position)

About the role

The Faculty of Social Sciences at Midlands State University seeks a qualified academic to join the Department of Governance and Public Management. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate modules in political science and international relations, conduct research, and contribute to university service and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses including Constitutional Law, International Relations, Democracy and Human Rights, and Introduction to Political Theory.
• Engage in active research, publish in reputable journals, and contribute to the university’s scholarly output.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university service activities such as meetings, workshops, conferences and community outreach.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.

Required profile

• First degree (minimum 2.1) in Politics and Public Management, Political Science or International Relations.
• Master’s degree in Political Science or International Relations.
• Relevant PhD in Political Science or International Relations.
• At least two years of teaching experience or a recognized teaching qualification (advantageous).
• Minimum two publications in reputable academic journals (advantageous).

Required skills

• Ability to deliver lectures and facilitate classroom discussions in the listed modules.
• Research competence in political science and international relations.
• Supervision of student research work.
