Finance Support Officer – Partner Financial Management

About the role

The Finance Support Officer provides targeted financial capacity strengthening to CAFOD partners, ensuring they have the systems, standards and guidance needed to manage programme funds effectively. The role offers responsive financial support to programme staff, maintains accurate bookkeeping, and prepares financial reports while ensuring full donor compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and consolidate partner financial reports for donor reporting, ensuring compliance with CAFOD and donor requirements.
• Assist in maintaining an overview of programme finances and provide timely updates to the Programme Manager and Finance and Administration Manager.
• Disseminate CAFOD financial standards, policies and procedures to staff and partners, and ensure proper record‑keeping.
• Lead partner financial assessments, including field visits, desk audits and compliance audits on a quarterly basis.
• Support programme staff in budgeting, monitoring fund use, and preparing documents for annual or donor audits.

Required profile

• Accountancy qualification (or working towards one) with practical finance or accounting experience.
• Good understanding of local contexts and ability to conduct financial assessments for partners.
• Ability to travel as needed and manage personal and partner security.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including handling detailed and complex spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of financial accounting and management principles.
