Finance Officer – Programme Support

About the role

The Programme Support Officer (Finance) strengthens partners' financial capacity, ensuring they have the systems, standards and guidance needed to manage programme funds effectively. The role provides responsive financial support to programme staff, maintains accurate bookkeeping and prepares financial reports (excluding final sign‑off). It also supports project procurements and ensures full donor compliance across all financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and consolidate partner financial reports for donor reporting, ensuring compliance with CAFOD and donor requirements.
• Assist in maintaining an overview of programme finances, providing timely updates to the Programme Manager and Finance and Administration Manager.
• Coordinate the timely submission of records and accounts, ensuring full accountability through effective record‑keeping.
• Lead partner financial assessments, conduct quarterly compliance audits, and identify any financial problems or fraud.
• Train programme and partner staff on CAFOD financial standards, policies, and procedures.

Required profile

• An accountancy qualification (or evidence of working towards one) with practical finance or accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting, management and the ability to carry out financial assessments for partners.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to travel as required and manage personal and partner security.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including handling detailed and complex spreadsheets.
• Accountancy qualification (or equivalent).
