DRHOWO Chargehand – Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The company is seeking a DRHOWO Chargehand to lead the maintenance team for its fleet of heavy trucks in Harare. The role combines hands‑on technical work with supervision of artisans and assistants to ensure the fleet operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise artisans and assistants in routine, preventive and planned maintenance, ensuring 100 % compliance with SOPs.
• Delegate daily work orders, monitor progress and enforce “zero re‑do” completion within allocated time.
• Perform quality‑control checks on finished tasks and document work orders on the same day.
• Train and direct staff in the installation, repair, overhaul and maintenance of HOWO, DAF, VOLVO and IVECO trucks.
• Coordinate major repairs, rebuilds and overhauls of key assemblies while upholding safety standards.

Required profile

• Artisan DPF / Motor Vehicle Mechanic with at least 5 years experience on heavy vehicles.
• Journeyman mechanic with 5 years experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience with HOWO, DAF, VOLVO and IVECO diesel or petrol trucks.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals accurately.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑rectification capabilities.

Required skills

• Heavy‑vehicle diagnostics and repair.
• Maintenance of DPF systems.
• Computer, electrical, hydraulic, steering and drivetrain systems on trucks.
• Hands‑on experience with HOWO, DAF, VOLVO and IVECO models.
