Technical Field Manager – Team Leader (Zimbabwe)

About the role

The Technical Field Manager – Team Leader will head all technical humanitarian mine action activities for MAG’s programme in Zimbabwe. Reporting to the Country Director, you will ensure safe, effective clearance operations, train and mentor local staff, and represent MAG with partners and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and quality control of minefield surveys, clearance and limited EOD tasks.
• Train, assess and monitor field staff to maintain high safety standards and build local capacity.
• Develop project plans, strategies, proposals and budgets in collaboration with the Country Director.
• Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
• Coordinate community liaison activities, including Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum IMAS EOD 3 qualification (or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge of explosive ordnance.
• Proven experience managing humanitarian mine action operations in conflict‑affected or post‑conflict settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train and develop local field teams.
• Strong operational planning and quality‑management skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently for extended periods.
• Fluent in English; fluency in Shona is an advantage.
