Systems Administrator - ICT Infrastructure

About the role

A Council is looking for a Systems Administrator in Harare to manage, maintain and support its ICT infrastructure, systems and applications. The role covers server, network and database administration, security, performance monitoring and technical guidance to ICT staff.

Key responsibilities

• Administer servers, networks, databases, user accounts and ICT resources, ensuring availability, security, reliability and performance.
• Develop and implement ICT administration policies, procedures and standards, and manage user access, permissions and security controls.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical problems and coordinate backups, data recovery and disaster recovery.
• Supervise and guide ICT staff, and coordinate upgrades, installations and maintenance.
• Liaise with ICT service providers and stakeholders, provide technical support to Council departments and prepare ICT reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with ICT legislation, policies and Council procedures, identify ICT risks and implement safeguards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in systems administration, network administration or ICT infrastructure management, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Clean Class 4 driver's licence.
• An added advantage: relevant professional ICT certification, knowledge of local authority operations and public-sector ICT systems.

Required skills

• Experience managing servers, networks, databases, operating systems and enterprise ICT environments.
• Experience in ICT security, backup and disaster recovery.
