About the role
NTU International is seeking a Senior Youth Employment & Skills Development Expert to lead youth‑focused employment and training initiatives within the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance project. The role will support ECOWAS institutions, Member States and regional stakeholders in building a skilled, inclusive transport workforce across West Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement youth employment and skills development programmes linked to transport, logistics, infrastructure and digital systems.
- Provide technical assistance on vocational training, professional development and workforce capacity‑building.
- Conduct labour market and skills‑gap assessments for the transport sector.
- Develop youth‑oriented training curricula, internship schemes and employment initiatives.
- Advise ECOWAS bodies and Member States on youth inclusion strategies and skills frameworks.
- Facilitate participation of young professionals in regional transport projects.
- Prepare strategies, training materials, employment analyses and policy recommendations.
- Coordinate with universities, training institutes, public authorities, private sector partners and development agencies.
- Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities.
- Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of youth and skills development actions.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in education, labour economics, human‑resource development, social sciences, public policy or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in youth employment, vocational training or workforce capacity‑building, with at least 7 years in senior roles.
- Proven experience in development, infrastructure or social inclusion projects in developing countries, preferably Sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
