Senior Farmer Facilitator

About the role

The Senior Farmer Facilitator will support the Herding for Health programme in Zimbabwe, providing practical and technical assistance to cattle farmers and helping implement a community‑driven livestock management model. Reporting to the Site Implementation Manager, the role combines field operations, stakeholder coordination and data reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily field operations, including management of professional and volunteer herders.
• Provide hands‑on technical support to cattle farmers on husbandry, herd management, animal health and improved livestock practices.
• Identify cattle health challenges, liaise with Government Veterinary Services and arrange specialist interventions when needed.
• Organise community engagements, workshops and stakeholder mobilisation activities.
• Collect and compile data for progress and monthly site reports, ensuring timely submission.
• Support the Assistant Implementation Manager in finalising stewardship agreements and ensuring compliance with local health, environmental and social regulations.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in livestock management, animal husbandry, agriculture, veterinary services or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years proven practical experience working with cattle.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with farmers, government entities, private sector partners and traditional community leaders.
