Pivot Operator – Agricultural Irrigation Specialist

About the role

Apt Resources is looking for a Pivot Operator to manage and maintain center‑pivot irrigation systems for an agricultural operation in Angola. You will ensure reliable water delivery, apply fertilizers, and support overall farm productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and position center pivots according to irrigation plans, adjusting speed and application rates.
• Monitor pressure, nozzles, valves, and flow rates; make real‑time adjustments.
• Apply liquid fertilizers and calibrate injection systems.
• Inspect pumping stations, checking amperage, motor vibration, bearing oil levels, and report irregularities.
• Perform preventive maintenance: lubrication, electrical tightening, gear‑oil changes, and component calibration.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in panels, pumps, and sensors.
• Assemble and calibrate new equipment such as pumps, valves, and control panels.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, breakdown reports, and ensure spare‑parts availability.
• Follow safety standards, wear PPE, and keep work areas clean.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating or maintaining irrigation systems, electric pumps or similar industrial equipment.
• Strong knowledge of electric motors, industrial electricity, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
• Problem‑solving mindset, good time‑management and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks and adhere to strict safety procedures.
