Safety, Health & Environment Intern

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Intern to join our team at Hyatt Regency Harare. This placement offers hands‑on experience in occupational safety, environmental management and wellness initiatives within a leading hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in conducting workplace safety inspections and hazard identification exercises.
• Support incident, accident, and near‑miss investigations and documentation.
• Help maintain safety records, reports, registers, and statistics.
• Participate in risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in monitoring compliance with safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills and evacuation exercises.
• Conduct safety inductions for new employees, contractors, and visitors under supervision.
• Assist in delivering safety training and awareness campaigns.
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and report non‑compliance.
• Support occupational health initiatives and workplace wellness programs.
• Assist in environmental management activities, including waste management and pollution control.
• Prepare safety reports, presentations, and toolbox talk materials.
• Participate in committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Studying towards a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Geography & Environmental Studies or related fields.
• Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety principles.
• Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
