Mining Plant Engineer

About the role

A leading mining operation in Zimbabwe is looking for an experienced Mining Plant Engineer to lead mechanical maintenance and drive equipment reliability, plant availability, and production efficiency within the processing plant.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage mechanical maintenance activities to maximise plant uptime and performance.
• Monitor condition and performance of crushers, mills, pumps, conveyors, agitators, compressors and piping systems.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Lead root‑cause failure investigations and apply corrective actions.
• Supervise contractors, artisans and technicians, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Maintain safety, health, environmental and engineering standards.
• Control maintenance budgets, spares inventories and procurement plans.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives for reliability and energy efficiency.
• Manage mechanical projects and plant modifications from design to hand‑over.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, drawings and equipment histories.
• Provide technical coaching and training to maintenance staff.
• Collaborate with Operations, Metallurgy, Electrical and Instrumentation teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Registered member of a professional engineering association.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining or heavy manufacturing.
• Experience with maintenance planning systems.
• Strong leadership, maintenance planning and problem‑solving abilities.
