Head Resource Geologist – Gold & Copper

About the role

The company, an African mining and resource development firm, is seeking a Head Resource Geologist to lead geological modelling and resource estimation for its gold and copper projects across Zimbabwe and other African sites. You will work on‑site, collaborating with exploration, mine and technical teams to turn data into robust mineral resource models that drive exploration targeting, project advancement and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D geological, structural, lithological and mineralisation models using Leapfrog Geo and Datamine tools.
• Generate and update Mineral Resource Estimates in line with JORC, SAMREC, NI 43‑101 and SK‑1300 standards.
• Conduct geostatistical analysis, variography, kriging and IDW to optimise estimation workflows.
• Support exploration targeting by integrating geological, geochemical, geophysical and drilling datasets.
• Maintain geological databases, ensure QA/QC of drilling, assay and survey data, and govern model documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in resource geology, mineral resource estimation and gold‑copper modelling.
• Proven ability to support exploration and mining operations across African jurisdictions.
• Willingness to travel regularly to operating sites and exploration projects.

Required skills

• Leapfrog Geo – advanced working knowledge.
• Datamine Studio RM and Datamine Supervisor – advanced working knowledge.
• ArcGIS or QGIS – practical proficiency.
• Microsoft Power BI – practical proficiency.
• Microsoft Excel – advanced level.
