General Manager – Mining Operation

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our mining operation in Zimbabwe. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will provide strategic direction, ensure safety and ESG compliance, and drive production performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee full site operational management, including production planning, processing, and engineering.
• Develop, manage and optimise annual capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) budgets.
• Ensure strict compliance with statutory safety, health, environmental and SHEQ regulations.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost processing efficiency, recovery rates and cost containment.
• Mentor and build high‑performing multidisciplinary teams across operations, technical services and logistics.
• Manage relationships with local communities, regulatory authorities and government agencies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy or a related technical field; Master’s or MBA is a plus.
• Minimum 20 years of progressive experience in the mining sector.
• At least 5 years in a General Manager or senior operational leadership role.
• Strong background in precious‑metal (gold) mining, both open‑pit and underground.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale budgets, technical teams and complex site logistics.
