Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Programme Officer

About the role

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Programme Officer to join its Gender Unit in Harare, Zimbabwe. The officer will support the implementation of UNFPA’s GBV programme, strengthen national systems, and improve access to multisectoral services for women and girls, including in humanitarian contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of GBV interventions in line with work plans and donor agreements.
• Provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Women Affairs on GBV service delivery, coordination, and the GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS).
• Develop GBV case‑management curricula, protocols and technical guidance.
• Strengthen GBV prevention and response programmes, including Gender‑Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE).
• Build capacity of government institutions, implementing partners and UNFPA partners on GBV prevention, response and humanitarian preparedness.
• Promote integration of gender and GBV considerations into sexual and reproductive health and population development programmes.
• Support advocacy initiatives, organize campaigns for international gender‑equality days and prepare donor briefs, concept notes and presentations.
