Nurse Mentor – Adolescent SRH Project

About the role

The Nurse Mentor will lead the delivery of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents, young people, key and vulnerable populations across Harare. Working within MSF’s mobile outreach clinics and youth hubs, the role ensures high‑quality, youth‑friendly care and supports health workers in clinical decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Provide adolescent and youth SRH services including family planning, pregnancy care, STI and HIV testing, TB screening, and mental health support at designated youth hubs and mobile clinics.
• Mentor and support health‑care workers on clinical protocols, case management, confidentiality, and youth‑friendly approaches.
• Prepare, pack, transport and set up medical supplies and equipment for mobile clinic operations, ensuring functionality and safety.
• Implement and monitor clinical guidelines specific to adolescent care in all outreach settings.
• Conduct on‑the‑job training for City of Harare nurses and other staff on adolescent‑friendly services.
• Coordinate with community health workers, peer educators and local stakeholders to raise awareness and mobilise communities.
• Maintain accurate records, submit reports for monitoring and evaluation, and support operational research.
• Facilitate handovers between mobile teams and static facilities for continuity of care.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards and support stock management.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (or Midwife) with a degree/diploma recognized by the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe.
• Minimum two years of experience in clinical adolescent reproductive health care.
• Experience in mobile or community outreach settings is strongly preferred.
• Experience collaborating with Ministry of Health and other health‑service stakeholders.
• Certificate in HIV testing; counseling qualification is an advantage.
