Chief Operating Officer - Banking Operations

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide strategic and operational leadership for the bank’s enterprise‑wide operations function. Reporting to senior management, the COO will drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, digital transformation and data‑driven decision‑making to support sustainable growth and an exceptional customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of operational strategies that align with the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Oversee Organisation and Methods, process automation, banking operations, enterprise data, analytics, business intelligence, cards, payments, exchange control, and document management.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and robust operational risk management across all functions.
• Drive productivity, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Enhance service delivery and customer experience through data‑driven insights.

Required profile

• Commercially minded, transformational leader with a proven track record in complex banking operations.
• Experience modernising processes and delivering measurable enterprise‑wide improvements in an African regional context.
• Strong understanding of regulatory environments and operational risk.
