Boilermaker - Class 2 SF

About the role

The Boilermaker – Class 2 (SF) is responsible for maintaining, installing and commissioning mechanical plant and equipment at Valterra Platinum’s Shurugwi operation. The role supports safe and reliable production performance through diligent upkeep of machinery and adherence to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform safe maintenance tasks to support production performance.
• Maintain work area housekeeping and ensure safety devices are operational.
• Conduct and participate in risk assessments.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergencies as required.
• Keep checklists and inspections up‑to‑date and accurate.
• Assess employee competency where needed.
• Maintain machinery and equipment, ensuring availability of materials, spares and tools.
• Complete job cards, documenting work performed and spares used.
• Report any contraventions of Mining (Management and Safety) Regulations and related codes.
• Exercise judgement on component replacement and apply appropriate tools.
• Provide coaching, training and on‑the‑job development for subordinates and apprentices.

Required profile

• Minimum five O‑Level subjects including Mathematics, English and Science.
• Trained and certified competent as a Class 2 Boilermaker.
• At least two years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) systems.
