Assistant Manager Internal Audit

About the role

The Assistant Manager Internal Audit will support the internal audit function by planning, executing, and reporting on audits across finance, operations, compliance, and information systems. This position works closely with senior management to identify control weaknesses and drive risk‑based improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing an annual risk‑based internal audit plan.
• Conduct financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits, preparing audit programs and working papers.
• Perform risk assessments, identify control gaps, and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and governance processes.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations through follow‑up reviews.
• Assess compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and emerging risk factors.
• Provide advisory support on internal controls, risk management, and process improvement initiatives.
• Participate in investigations of suspected fraud or policy violations.
• Prepare and present detailed audit reports and maintain accurate audit documentation.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Internal Auditing, Forensic Auditing or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CIA, ACCA, CIMA, CISA or CPA preferred.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in internal audit, risk management or compliance, preferably in heavy manufacturing, mining or a similar environment.
• At least two years in a supervisory or senior audit position.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
