Senior Technical Support Technician – University (Bulawayo)

About the role

The university seeks a Senior Technical Support Technician to provide first‑line IT assistance to academic, administrative staff and students in Bulawayo. The role involves diagnosing software issues, maintaining multimedia equipment, and supporting e‑learning platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support to staff and students, diagnosing and resolving software issues.
• Install, configure, and update software applications on university computers.
• Maintain and troubleshoot multimedia equipment such as projectors, smart boards, microphones, speakers, and video‑conferencing systems.
• Support e‑learning management systems (Moodle, Google Classroom, Edurole) and student information systems.
• Prepare and maintain radio, TV broadcasting and livestreaming equipment for practical work.
• Document support requests, resolutions, and system changes accurately.
• Deliver training sessions and create user guides on software usage and data‑protection policies.
• Supervise and train Technical Assistants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (2:2 or higher) in IT, Computer Science or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in technical support or broadcasting environments.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Software installation and configuration.
• Multimedia equipment troubleshooting (projectors, smart boards, microphones, speakers, video‑conferencing).
• E‑learning platforms: Moodle, Google Classroom, Edurole.
• Broadcasting and livestreaming equipment operation.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Audacity, DaVinci Resolve.
