Mechanical Foreman – Underground Operations

About the role

The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and productive engineering maintenance on the shaft. This role supervises a team of artisans, plans maintenance activities, and aligns work with operational targets and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist operation management in developing annual operational plans to meet shaft throughput objectives.
• Prepare one‑year and five‑year maintenance budgets aligned with planned schedules and operational targets.
• Plan spare‑parts requirements and ensure their availability for scheduled maintenance.
• Liaise daily with operation management on progress, resource allocation, and budget adherence.
• Monitor compliance with legal and safety requirements for all work practices.
• Communicate progress against targets to subordinates through regular supervisory forums.
• Evaluate section performance, including labour, equipment, budget, and process efficiency.
• Oversee workmanship quality, conduct regular inspections, and prioritize work based on operational needs.
• Allocate labour and equipment to maintain high performance standards and reduce incident‑related costs.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising artisans or maintenance teams in an underground mining environment.
• Strong understanding of maintenance planning, budgeting, and spare‑parts management.
• Ability to coordinate with operation management and communicate progress effectively.
• Commitment to safety, legal compliance, and continuous improvement.
