Machine Operator – Footwear (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Midlands State University’s Enterprise Division is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to work on footwear production lines. The role is fixed‑term and based at the heavy‑industrial site, where you will operate and maintain machines that shape, cut, close and finish shoes.

Key responsibilities

• Operate specific machines for lasting, cutting, closing and finishing footwear products.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance.
• Inspect finished products for defects, report any machine faults and ensure quality standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers and team members to keep the production flow smooth.
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment.
• Meet production deadlines and adhere to the critical path schedule.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience in the footwear, leather or canvas industry in a similar role.
• A certificate in the footwear industry is an advantage.
• Ability to work on‑site in a manufacturing environment.
