Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Sociology/Anthropology

About the role

Midlands State University seeks a qualified academic to join the Department of Community Studies. The position can be filled at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor level, depending on experience and credentials.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in line with departmental standards.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university committees, workshops and seminars.
• Conduct active research in sociology, anthropology or related fields and publish findings.
• Develop innovative products or services and contribute to commercialisation efforts.

Required profile

• First degree in Sociology or Social Anthropology with at least a 2.1 classification.
• Master’s degree in Sociology, Social Anthropology or Demography/Population Studies.
• PhD in Sociology, Anthropology, Population Studies or an equivalent discipline.
• Ability to teach modules such as Quantitative Research Methods, Theories of Migration, Integration and Citizenship, Global Migration and Personal Identity, and Migration Management and Protection.
