Assistant Manager of People & Culture

About the role

The Assistant Manager of People & Culture will lead the hotel’s HR strategy, aligning it with Avani’s vision and service philosophy. Working closely with the Hotel Manager and department heads, you will attract, develop, engage and retain high‑performing teams while ensuring compliance with labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Hotel Manager to design and implement the annual People & Culture strategy and budget.
• Analyse workforce trends and recommend actions to improve productivity, engagement, retention and succession planning.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, talent pipelines and internal career development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation, manage disciplinary processes, grievances, investigations and union relations.
• Represent the hotel during labour inspections and coordinate work permits, visas and expatriate documentation.
• Drive performance management processes, coach managers, and oversee probation reviews, appraisals and development plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR leadership within hospitality or a similar service‑focused environment.
• Strong knowledge of local labour legislation and employment regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic HR initiatives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on employee experience.
