About the role
The Youth Economic Empowerment Coordinator will lead Plan International’s efforts to equip young people in Zimbabwe with financial literacy, business management and vocational skills. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role works closely with the Country Youth Economic Empowerment Technical Lead and other partners to design and deliver training that enhances income‑generation opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the MERL team for capacity‑gap assessments on vocational training.
- Contribute to the review of the project log‑frame and indicators to capture relevant vocational data.
- Develop implementation plans and budgets in line with donor guidelines.
- Conduct market assessments to identify growth sectors for youth employment.
- Lead delivery of vocational, business and entrepreneurship training programmes.
- Support learners’ transition to employment or self‑employment through information and referral services.
- Facilitate communication with participants via WhatsApp, email and other platforms.
- Collaborate with private‑sector partners to create employment, market‑linkage and micro‑finance opportunities.
- Coordinate with the Ministries of Youth and Women Affairs to align activities with national priorities.
- Develop a referrals map for business‑skill and micro‑finance support.
- Engage Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to enrol learners and support trainer capacity.
Required profile
- Experience in youth economic empowerment, vocational training or related development programmes.
- Proven ability to work with NGOs, government ministries and private‑sector partners.
- Strong analytical skills for market and capacity assessments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
