Senior FreeCAD Engineer - Remote

About the role

We are seeking a Senior FreeCAD Engineer to join our remote team on a contract basis. You will be responsible for creating, modifying, and validating detailed parametric CAD models that meet project specifications while ensuring manufacturability and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Create, modify, and validate detailed parametric CAD models in FreeCAD according to project requirements.
• Develop and optimize mechanical assemblies, applying best practices for component integration.
• Apply rigorous GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to guarantee manufacturability.
• Generate clear technical drawings and documentation for engineering review and downstream processes.
• Conduct engineering QA reviews of CAD models and drawings, identifying and communicating issues.
• Utilize Python scripting to automate repetitive or complex modeling tasks (preferred).
• Collaborate with the team, providing feedback on model accuracy, design intent, and process improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or a related field with a focus on parametric CAD modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in FreeCAD or an equivalent parametric CAD platform.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T and DFM best practices.
• Proven ability to produce comprehensive technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Experience conducting engineering QA and verifying model integrity against specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills for remote, project‑based collaboration.
