Deputy Head - Catholic School, Bulawayo

About the role

A Catholic school in Bulawayo is looking for a Deputy Head to support the Headmaster in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school. The post also involves mentoring and developing staff, building strong relationships with pupils, parents, staff and the wider community, and contributing to the college's sporting, cultural and co-curricular programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Headmaster in strategic leadership and daily management of the school
• Inspire, mentor and develop staff while promoting excellence in teaching, learning and assessment
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, staff and the wider community
• Uphold the school's Catholic ethos and take part in Roman Catholic religious activities
• Contribute to the college's sporting, cultural and co-curricular programmes
• Commit to safeguarding, child protection and wellbeing, and to innovative 21st-century educational practices

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent; Master's degree an advantage
• At least 10 years of teaching experience, including 5 years in a leadership role
• Experience in a Cambridge, ATS, ISASA, international or comparable independent school
• Practising Catholic who supports Catholic values and mission, and is ready to lead and take part in religious activities
• Near-native spoken and written English

Required skills

• High level of computer literacy and educational technology skills
• Knowledge of Cambridge and ZIMSEC curricula and other internationally recognised ones
• Leadership, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
