Senior Graphic Designer – Marketing & Communications

About the role

Midlands State University’s Marketing and Communications Department is seeking a senior graphic designer to lead the creation of visual assets across print and digital channels. The role will shape the university’s brand identity, produce high‑impact designs for reports, proposals, and promotional materials, and mentor junior designers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee design projects from concept to delivery, including annual reports, strategic plans, proposals, budgets and branding materials.
• Create original illustrations, infographics and visual content for high‑profile university initiatives.
• Supervise and coach interns and junior designers, ensuring timely delivery and brand consistency.
• Maintain corporate brand standards across all print and digital platforms.
• Manage production of print pieces from initial design through final output.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Media, Multimedia or Graphic Design (Master’s in Visual Arts/Media is an advantage).
• Minimum 3 years of professional graphic design experience in an in‑house creative department.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain corporate brand identity.
• Strong understanding of typography, colour theory and layout design.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
• Experience in front‑end web development and digital media management.
• Ability to produce both digital and print designs, including illustrations and infographics.
