Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will support FAO’s Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF II) by generating evidence of technical contributions and verifying results reported by partners. Reporting to the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative‑Programmes, the role focuses on designing and operating M&E tools that track resilience outcomes across vulnerable rural communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive M&E framework, including targets and indicators, for FAO programmes in Zimbabwe.
• Develop and operationalise an M&E tool to monitor progress against agreed resilience outcomes and output indicators.
• Collect, analyse, and document baseline data and outcome monitoring surveys to demonstrate tangible results.
• Generate evidence of FAO’s technical contribution and support verification of results reported by consortium partners.
• Collaborate closely with the National Project Coordinator, technical officers, and regional offices to ensure data quality and alignment with project objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation within agriculture, environment, or development programmes.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
• Ability to work in a multi‑partner environment and communicate findings effectively.
• Familiarity with resilience‑building initiatives and natural resources management is an advantage.
