Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist – Harare, Zimbabwe

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist will design, implement and operationalise the M&E framework for FAO programmes in Zimbabwe. You will generate evidence of FAO’s technical contribution, support verification of partner results and ensure robust reporting to donors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement M&E frameworks, targets and indicators for FAO projects.
• Develop and operationalise M&E tools to track resilience outcomes and outputs.
• Consolidate quarterly and bi‑annual progress reports and update data in the PAID system and FPMIS.
• Participate in complex field missions, providing guidance to consultants, government officials and partners.
• Prepare evidence‑based evaluation products and contribute to donor‑required progress reports.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in monitoring and evaluation, agriculture, international development, humanitarian studies, sociology, statistics or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in M&E, learning, evidence generation, evaluation or programme implementation.
• Zimbabwean nationality and working knowledge of English (level C).
• Experience with FAO tools and procedures is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the PAID system.
• Proficiency with the FPMIS platform.
