Loan Officer – Direct Marketing & Business Development

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Loan Officer to drive direct marketing and business development within targeted market segments in Gweru, Zimbabwe. The role focuses on acquiring new SME clients, assessing credit risk, and maintaining a high‑quality loan portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct direct marketing and business development activities aimed at targeted market segments.
• Collect, assess and analyse client information to make sound credit decisions.
• Visit existing and prospective clients to retain business and generate new leads.
• Manage client relationships and proactively identify sales opportunities.
• Monitor loan repayments, manage portfolio quality and ensure compliance with credit policies.
• Follow up on overdue accounts and implement recovery strategies.
• Engage clients and advise them on market trends and developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Economics, Business Administration, Banking & Finance or a related commercial discipline.
• Professional certification or short courses in Marketing, Sales Management or Business Development.
• Minimum two years proven experience in sales and marketing, preferably within financial services, micro‑finance or SME lending.
• Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication abilities.
• Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment.
• Prior exposure to the Zimbabwean SME lending market is an advantage.
