About the role
The Insurance Risk Specialist will join CBZ Holdings' Group Risk Department to design, implement and maintain a robust insurance risk management framework. This role supports the organisation's strategic objectives and risk appetite while working closely with senior leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive insurance risk management framework aligned with the organisation’s risk appetite and strategic objectives.
- Establish policies, standards, and procedures for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating insurance‑related risks.
- Analyse emerging and existing risks in underwriting, pricing, claims, reserving, and reinsurance, including risk exposure evaluations and stress testing.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as Solvency II and IFRS 17 and maintain relationships with regulators.
- Provide regular risk reports and updates to senior management, the board, and relevant committees.
- Develop and oversee the reinsurance strategy to optimise risk‑transfer arrangements.
- Oversee development and validation of insurance risk models used for pricing, reserving and capital assessment.
- Use advanced analytics to enhance risk monitoring and forecasting.
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, finance and other teams to embed risk management into business processes.
- Lead and develop the risk team, manage performance and promote continuous professional development.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Risk Management or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in insurance risk management, including leadership responsibilities.
- Professional actuarial or risk certification such as FSA or CERA (highly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of insurance operations, regulatory frameworks and risk‑modelling techniques.
- Experience with underwriting, claims management and reserving risks.
Required skills
- Proficiency with risk management systems and actuarial software.
- Advanced Excel and VBA for ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to develop and validate quantitative risk models.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
